“The primary job of government is health, safety and public welfare,” said Anderson County Administrator said Burns.

“It is bittersweet to make this move, but I am excited about the new opportunity,” said Cameron. “I grew up about an hour from Savannah, and that area is home to me. I still have family members there, and I’m really excited about the job at the Chamber.” 

In a letter to senators this week, Gov. Henry McMaster said he is requiring an application that includes asking familiarity about legal issues and the candidate's sentencing philosophy. 

The funds are from the Accommodation Tax money generated by visitor who stayed in Anderson lodging locations during events. This year’s funds were up $27,000 from the previous year.

“When Anderson County hosted our first B.A.S.S. Nation Championship in 2017, the leadership of Anderson County identified the Nation Championship as a must-have event in our community,” said Neil Paul

Anderson County Council will consider tax incentives for WC Fiber, LLC, for the expansion of broadband during Tuesday’s 6:30 p.m. meeting in the historic courthouse downtown.

Justin Raines and Bradley Day took the $5,000 first-place prize with a total catch of 14.29 pounds. Nearly 180 women have graduated from the program, with some earning advanced and professional degrees. AIM Founder and CEO said many other women spent some time in the program which provided tools with life-changing results.

William State Lee, Sr., who played a key role in starting the Duke Energy Company has been chosen for induction into the Anderson County Museum’s Hall of Fame.

Anderson County will honor law enforcements and first responders who gave their lives in the line of duty at an 7:30 a.m. Oct. 19 event at the Anderson Civic Center. It will mark the 38th year the service has been held.

The event, which sold out in three days, featured music, drinks and samples of local restaurant specialties prepared with local ingredients.

Anderson City Council on Monday approved on first reading a paving/repaving list for local roads.

The city is required by the state to provide such evaluation every two years.

Anderson City Council will look at paving priorities as part of Monday’s regular meeting at 6 p.m. in council chambers of city hall.
