Early Voting for U.S. Senate Special Election Aug. 5-7

It’s been a busy year for Anderson County’s election office, with municipal elections, primaries, runoffs and now a special Republican United States Senate primary and when time is short and workers are scarce: it has consolidated polling places.

Early voting for the election will run Aug.5-7, from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., at the county election office at 301 N Main Street in Anderson. For voters choosing absentee by mail, the last day to receive an application is Friday at 5 p.m.

While trying to avoid using public schools, since classes are just beginning, in some places that proved impossible, and is working with the districts to make the arrangement as orderly as possible.

The office said the changes were made in part to ensure there would be enough election workers on hand, properly trained and available on short notice. Voters are being urged to check their polling place on the state election website, scvotes.gov, because their usual location may not be the one to which they are sent this time; signs will also be posted at the regular sites to redirect people who arrive in their traditional voting site. Updated polling locations are listed below.

Because so many candidates have filed for the seat, a runoff election seems likely on August 25,, with the same polling locations in use. Early voting for a potential runoff would take place August 19-21, again from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at the election office downtown.
