Williamston Scares Up Fun with “Boo in the Park”

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

It felt like fall in Williamston on Saturday as an estimated crowd of more than 3,000 revelers lined up wound down the path inside Mineral Springs Park in for the town’s annual "Boo in the Park" Halloween event.

This year's festival moved more of the action inside the park for safety and to make the day more friendly for families and kids.

“It keeps getting bigger and bigger every year,” said Williamston Mayor Rockey Burgess “People from all over come. We got people from Anderson and Greenville, even Spartanburg here today. It's pretty neat to be able to see all the kids come out, dress up, and see the community come together, do something, while the town gives something back to the community.”

Families with costumed kids filled bags with candy, competed in a costume contest and enjoyed the playground as par of the four-hour Halloween holiday offering. It felt like fall in Williamston on Saturday as an estimated crowd of more than 3,000 revelers lined up wound down the path inside Mineral Springs Park in for the town’s annual "Boo in the Park" Halloween event.
