Referendum, Municipal Elections Highlight Election Day

Elections across Anderson County will take place Tuesday, with several mayoral races and numerous council seats on the ballot. The referendum on a Capital Sales Tax is also on the ballot countywide.
In Belton, three incumbent city council members are unopposed in seeking new terms: Joshua S. Hawkins in Ward 5, Mark Spence in Ward 1, and Russ Tysl in Ward 3.
Honea Path voters will decide three council races. Incumbent A. Earle Ashley is running again in Ward 1, while Ward 3 features Jason A. Peterson, and Molly Fisher for the Ward 5 post.
In Pelzer, a contested mayoral race features candidates Chase Smithwick and Harold Tennihill. The town council ballot includes incumbents Donna Ide and Mike Matthews, along with Jason McElhannon, Greg Pellum, Deb Seller, and Michael W. Shirley.
Pendleton voters will choose between current Mayor Frank Crenshaw and challenger Sarah Sokowski. The town’s council ballot lists Abigail B. Clark and incumbent Lyn Merchant for Ward 1, and Nancy Von Meyer in Ward 3.
In West Pelzer, the town council race has incumbents Jeff Lee and Johnny C. Rogers Sr. facing challengers Rick Sanders and Jeff Turner.
Polls in all municipalities will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.
