The Greater Anderson Musical Arts Consortium (GAMAC) will once again host Ray McGee’s Jazz Club on Sept. 25 at Bleckley Station in downtown Anderson.

Now entering its fourth year, the event has earned a reputation for its relaxed atmosphere and standout jazz performances. This year’s headliner, Will Matic & Friends, will take the stage with special guests including Ray McGee, Wanda Johnson, and others selected by McGee himself.

McGee, a longtime music educator and bass player, taught strings for decades at Westside High School before retiring to Maldin. Known as the creative force and inspiration behind the annual concert, he personally curates the lineup of musicians each year, giving the evening its distinctive blend of artistry and spontaneity.

“It’s always a great night of jazz and just great entertainment, great fellowship, and it is one of our big fundraisers for our mission,” said Kylie Herbert, GAMAC’s executive director.

Proceeds from the concert will support GAMAC’s mission of bringing world-class choral, symphonic, and chamber music to the Anderson community, as well as providing educational opportunities for local students. Tickets and tables are on sale now, with details available at gamac.org.

Founded in 1990, GAMAC has become a vital part of the cultural fabric of Anderson, offering symphony and chorale seasons alongside events like the Jazz Club. The consortium’s programming is supported in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, with additional funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
