Filing Opens for November Elections in County

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

The official filing period for a number of local offices in Anderson County's November 4 municipal elections commenced today, with candidates having until noon on August 15 to submit their paperwork.

The filing process requires prospective candidates to submit their documents and fees directly to their respective municipalities. These local governments are then responsible for forwarding the completed materials to the Anderson County Board of Voter Registration and Elections once the filing window has closed.

Elections for various positions are scheduled across most of the county's cities and towns, with the exception of the City of Anderson itself, which holds elections in April.

Among the specific races, the Town of Belton will be voting for council members in Wards 1, 3, and 5. In Honea Path, the election will also be for council seats in Wards 1, 3, and 5. Voters in Iva will decide on all council seats and the mayor. The town of Pelzer will elect a mayor and three council members, while the Town of Pendleton will vote for mayor and council representatives for Wards 1 and 3. In the Town of West Pelzer, two council seats are up for election.

The county elections office also announced that it is currently seeking paid election workers for the November balloting. Further information regarding the application process can be obtained from the county's website.
