City Moves Ahead on Annexation, Development Standards

Anderson City Council on Monday night gave initial approval to annexation of 9.36 acres on Edgebrook Drive, moved ahead on new development ordinances, and approved a contract to update radio communication equipment for the City Fire Department.

The new Edgebrook subdivision would be home to 15 new houses and are expected to fall in line with the rules outlined in the proposed Unified Development Ordinance, both of which were approved on first reading.

Council also approved $203,445.74 for the purchase of 21 Kenwood mobile and seven portable radios, batteries, chargers and lapel microphones for the fire department.

The new multi-band radios will bring the department up-to-date and provide cross-platform communications abilities, said Anderson Fire Chief Charlie King.
