Market Theatre Free Show Starts Thursday
In the play, 10 contestants vie for a "hardbody" truck in Longview, Texas. The last contestant who has his or her hands on the truck wins it. The truck is a Nissan "hardbody" pickup (on stage).[5] The lives of each contestant, along with the car dealer and a radio announcer are revealed during the "hardbody" contest.
School Dist. 1 Elementary School to Carry Historic Name
The name Oak Hill has ties to the community’s history, with documented photographs believed to be from the 1930s showing students once attended an Oak Hill School in the area. By selecting the name, the district hopes to pay homage to this legacy and honor the generations of students who walked its halls.

The downtown walk is the largest fund-raising event of the year for the Free Clinic, which provides medical, dental, vision, mental health and pharmacy services to the uninsured whose income does not exceed 200 percent of the Federal Poverty guidelines and have no insurance.

Farmers Markets Offers $50 Vouchers to Eligible Seniors
This year the vouchers are for $50 in the form five $10 vouchers. The Anderson County Senior Citizens Program and Anderson County, in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Social Services and other state agencies, will issue the vouchers to eligible senior citizens which can be used to purchase produce at participating farmer’s markets through Oct. 15. The vouchers will be issued on a ‘first come-first serve’ basis until the supply is exhausted. EBT is accepted year-round at are farmers markets.

Mill Town Players "Under the Boardwalk" Kicks Off Friday
The show features more than 30 beach music hits from such groups as The Drifters, The Chairmen of the Board, The Clovers, and The Platters, brought back to life by local singers Beverly Clowney (Williamston), Zurik Long (Piedmont), Brian Reeder (Greenville), and Aviyana Suber (Pelzer) alongside a live eight-piece band.
Arts Center Winners Work on Display at Gallery, Downtown
The recent Annual Anderson Arts Center Juried Show received hundreds of submissions from artists, and many of these, including the winners of the juried arts show, will be on display throughout the May. Some of the artwork will also be part of the “Art on the Town” exhibit and will be featured in several downtown locations.
New Concert Series Brings Variety to Civic Center
The Legends Concert Series kicks off July 12, with three bands paying tribute to Styx, Pat Benatar and Journey. August 9 offers tributes to Fleetwood Mac, The Cars and Tom Petty. Sept. 13 brings the Elton John/Billy Joel tributes. The series closes Oct. 11 with bands paying homage to Chicago and the Eagles
S.C. House Bill Wants Statewide Rule for School Library Book Challenges
The regulation, approved in February by the South Carolina Board of Education, would rule that “sexual conduct” can’t be in library books, textbooks or any other classroom materials. But to take effect it needs approval by lawmakers.
3rd Annual "Rhythm on the River" Set for May 6

The church moved into the historic church on South Main Street, which had served as Orville United Methodist Church from 1900-2012, was in need of a lot of help to save the buildings and make use of them in the community once again.
State Superintendent Tells Schools To Ignore New Title IX Rules
