City OKs Changes to Subdivision, Reappoints Judges
Anderson City Council on Monday approved changes to the 30-acre Bailey Creek Commons townhouse subdivision on Simpson Road. Part of the development also includes annexation of an additional property for single-family detached houses.
America's First Tea Plantation was in Piedmont
Dr. Junius Smith, a former shipping magnate, planted the first tea plantation near Piedmont in the Golden Grove community in 1848 as an experiment in cultivation of the plant in the Upstate. Failed shipping endeavors led to Smith’s attempt to end the importation of tea from England and instead grow it locally.
Anderson Fair Returns May 2
Free shows include not only racing pigs, but the Wild West Showdown, Comedy Circus, Max Power Robot and an Exotic Petting Zoo. The fair will also feature new rides, including Sub-Zero and the Auto-Bahn.

The two exhibits, one in the Pendleton Library and the other in Pendleton Town Hall, include artifacts, photographs and other documents, including some well-known Pendleton natives and residents.
Early Voting in GOP Presidential Primary Opens Monday
The ballot includes seven candidates, but three are no longer running for president – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie had all dropped out of the race. Voters in the primary will be given a guide outlining who has dropped out.

Biden Wins Easily in Anderson, S.C. Primary
The president received almost 96 percent of the vote in Anderson County, with 2,274 votes. Statewide, Biden also received roughly the same percentage among those who voted.
Road Priorities, Map Set for March Release
The results are being sorted to offer details of road conditions countywide, and the information will be available to the public in March on an interactive online map.
The county will also release a list of priorities on roads and bridges which need repair based on condition, and/or how long a road has been left on a waiting list for maintenance.
