Smith Elected Mayor of Honea Path

Honea Path Dr. Jimmy Smith is the new mayor of Honea Path.

Smith defeated challengers Luther Moon and Tina Scott in the special election for the position which was vacated earlier this year by Christopher Burton.

The unofficial results show Smith with 331 votes, Moon with 61 and Scott with 28.

Smith, who has also served as fire chief in Honea Path for decades, said he’s ready to go to work.

“I would like to thank all my supporters who came out and voted today,” said Smith. “Also a special thanks to those who supported my campaign with contributions of time, campaigning to their friends and neighbors and donations. I will ask for every citizen’s help to make Honea Path one of the best places in the southeast to live, raise a family and work”
