School Dist. 2 Voters Overwhelmingly Vote No Middle School Referendum

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

Anderson School Dist. 2 voters sent a clear message on Saturday with almost three fourths of voters rejecting the proposed $65 million bond referendum to build a new consolidated middle school.

Out of the 3,091 votes cast, 2,525 voted no while 566 voted in favor of the referendum. Voter turnout for the measure was 21.98 percent.

The school district will now consider financing options for updating the Belton Middle School and Honea Path Middle School to make the schools better for students, teachers and staff.
