Mentoring Project Aims to Change Future

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

An organization in Anderson is working to address the needs of young people in the region by fostering leadership skills through mentorship. The Proverbs Mentoring Organization, which focuses on community service, academics, athletics, and entrepreneurship, is built on the belief that a strong mentor can shape a young person's future regardless of their background or location.

The organization's mission centers on providing resources and support to help young people develop socially. It operates by partnering with other groups that offer growth services and by backing community-wide initiatives. The programs are open to all youth in the area, not just those within a specific school district or county.

"Mentoring is at the center of everything we do," said Don Peppers, founder of the organization.

By creating long-lasting relationships between mentors, mentees, and their peers, the program seeks to build what it describes as a generation of empathetic, knowledgeable, and successful individuals. The organization's approach is designed to ensure that support and guidance continue well beyond a program's official end, helping to create a lasting network for its participants.
