Old-school country music performer Jamey Johnson is making a stop in Anderson Sept. 4 at the Anderson Civic Center as part of his national “Last Honky Tonk” tour.” It’s the only South Carolina stop on the tour. Tickets are available now at www.andersonevents.com
“The civic center will be transformed into a Honky Tonk for the night,” said Anderson County Administrator Rusty Burns. “This is a great concert win for Anderson and offers a great night out for fans.”
Promoters said the 11-time Grammy nominated artist said Anderson was chosen “for its strong fan base and reputation for delivering top-tier live music experiences in the Upstate.” Regarded as one of country music’s most respected songwriters and performers, Johnson is best known for such hits “In Living Color” and “High Cost of Living.”
Johnson has recorded more than 50 new songs since releasing 2024’s “Midnight Gasoline,” his first new solo album in 14 years. “We are going to do some of the new stuff [on tour],” said Johnson. “We will do some of the songs from “Midnight Gasoline” from last year and all the years before. Whatever album you like, we will do some of those songs. It’s exciting to play the new songs. I like it when people tell me they have heard the new stuff and they like it. I like it when people have something else to listen to. Sometimes it’s as simple as that.”
