Hot Weather, Hotter Chili Highlight Belton Festival

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

The annual S.C. Chili Cook Off brought cooks from more than a dozen states to Belton Saturday to compete for a chance to go to the national championships in September, scheduled at Myrtle Beach this year.

Despite the unseasonal heat and a busy calendar across the county, an estimated crowd of more than 3,000 visited Belton for Saturday's event, which also featured music, events for kids and a car show.
