Honea Path Holiday Event Includes Annual Tree Lighting
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
It was one bright evening where little hands and local pride brought light to the holiday season, leaving one feeling as warm as the unseasonable weather Sunday night in Honea Path.
Downtown was filled with Christmas lights and vendors showing off holiday arts, crafts and food, and just after dusk, the tree blazed to life in the park.
The event also featured free photos with Santa staged on a vintage firetruck, ornament-making stations, and the irresistible promise of cocoa and cookies keeping spirits bright and voices bubbly, while the Festival of Trees, a joyous survey of creativity and community pride displayed inside Watkins Community Center, drew more holiday revelers.
The altogether effect is pure was Honea Path: Christmas conjured by the collision of tradition and holiday ingenuity, set off by the twinkling of a single beloved tree.
