Fall weather greeted a town full of folks Saturday for the annual Honea Path Fall Festival.
Vendors lined the streets, a car show, a kids area was set up on the edge of town, and a stage hosted a variety in the park as part of the two-day festival which started Friday night.
Empower Honea Path built a full seasonal event, which included the and the annual “Honey Soppin’” boasting $100 prizes for the winners in each of the three categories: men, women, children. Contestants were challenged to wolf done a large, honey-coated biscuit from The Little Biscuit Barn, and then whistle.
S.C. Sen. Mike Gambrell, R-Dist. 4, said the festival is one of many things that make his hometown special.
“On the water tower says “The Little Town with the Big Heart,” and people here step up when they need to,” said Gambrell. “They take care of each other, we take care of our own, and we take care of everybody else. Always have.”
The festival kicks off a busy end of the year for the “Little Town with the Big Heart.” Trick or Treat on Main Street is set for Oct. 31, a Veterans Day Parade Nov. 7, followed by Christmas on Main and the annual tree lighting Nov. 23 and the Christmas Parade Dec. 7.
