Anderson County Council unanimously approved a $331,856,570 million fiscal year 2025-2026 budget on Tuesday.

The budget includes funding for an additional 13 officers for the new detention center (now under construction), the additional funds for the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department to continue to offer completive salaries, an increase in funding for Tri-County Technical College, funding for the Anderson County Library System and a three-percent raise for all county employees.

Council also approved a partnership with Hope Missions of the Upstate to allow for joint grant opportunities for the development of permanent supportive housing on the old Riverside Mill property. In addition, council approved the donation of old computer equipment to the ministry.

Continued swelling of inmates at the Anderson County Detention Center, which is not housing more than 500 in a facility built in 1955 to hold 240 inmates, also led to a budget transfer to pay for meals for the increased number of those incarcerated which has risen from $64,000 per month to more than $75,000 per month.
