County Set to Remove 10 Blighted Structures by Summer

Observer Reports

Anderson County has received $53,480 to demolish ten distressed structures which are a blemish to their neighborhoods. A Community Development Block Grant provides funding for these structures' removal.

"The presence of such eyesores has been a real hazard for these communities," said Anderson County Council Chairman Tommy Dunn. "We work hard to provide funding to clean up our county, and now residents in the area will finally be able to say goodbye to the depilated structures."

County Council has contracts to eliminate structures as part of the South Anderson Community Project to tear down and remove the destressed or abandoned properties at the following locations:

311 Corning Street, 314 Corning Street, 3305 Vaughn Street, 3308 Vaughn Street, 3340 Keys Street, and 209 Marion Streets. These properties are in Homeland Park and completion of the demolition is scheduled for June. Demolition of the additional four structures is set to be completed in July. These are at 5 Hammett Street, 8 North Prince Street, and 401 Hall Streets in Anderson, and at 17 Lopez Street in Pelzer.
