Council Moves Ahead on $292M Budget for 2025-26
Greg Wilson/Anderson County
Anderson County Council moved ahead with the proposed $292 million 2025-2026 fiscal year budget on Tuesday, which will include funding for Tri-County Technical College, 13 positions for the new detention center, raises for law enforcement and a likely three-percent raise for all county employees.
The budget is still a work in progress and will be revised before the final vote to approve. The current proposed budget does not include a county millage increase.
Council also approved a new member for one of three county seats on the new roads commission. Michael Mance joins Matt Reeves and Jamie Cantrell as the county’s members of the commission. The three municipal members are expected to be announced soon.
The commission is charged with education for the November referendum for a one-penny Capital Projects Sales Tax to fund repair/replacement of the county’s 15,400 miles of roads and 157 bridges. If approved the one-penny tax will raise approximately $35 million per year for county roads, municipal roads and bridges. Currently Anderson County has a $350 million backlog of road/bridges work that is largely unfunded.
