Early Voting for General Elections Begins Monday
Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer
Early voting for the Nov. 3 general election begins Monday at four locations in Anderson County.
Voters can cast ballots through Oct. 31. Early voting centers will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, according to the South Carolina State Election Commission.
Registered voters do not need to provide a reason to vote early. They may cast ballots at any early voting center in their county of residence.
Anderson County’s early voting locations are:
Anderson County Voter Registration and Elections Office, 301 N. Main St., Anderson.
Powdersville Library, 4 Civic Court, Powdersville.
Pendleton Branch Library, 650 S. Mechanic St., Pendleton.
Watkins Community Center, 204 S. Main St., Honea Path.
Early voting locations may differ from voters’ assigned Election Day polling places.
Voters will be asked to present a current, valid photo ID when checking in. Accepted identification includes a South Carolina driver’s license, a state Department of Motor Vehicles identification card, a South Carolina voter registration card with a photo, a federal military ID or a U.S. passport.
Both standard and REAL ID versions of South Carolina licenses and DMV identification cards are accepted. A South Carolina concealed weapons permit, a Veterans Affairs benefits card and a U.S. passport card also qualify.
Registered voters can obtain a free photo voter registration card at their county voter registration and elections office. They must provide their date of birth and the last four digits of their Social Security number and have their photograph taken.
Voters who cannot obtain a photo ID because of a reasonable impediment may bring their current, non-photo voter registration card, sign an affidavit explaining the obstacle and cast a provisional ballot. The ballot will count unless the county election board has reason to believe the affidavit is false.
Voters who forget their photo ID may cast a provisional ballot but must present the identification to the county elections office before election certification for the ballot to count.
Sample ballots, registration information, voting locations and election guides are available at SCVOTES.gov. Voters also may contact their county voter registration and elections office for assistance.
Election Day polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Nov. 3. Voters casting ballots that day must use their assigned polling places.
