Carolina Sailing Club Makes Lake, Holidays Special

The Western Carolina Sailing Club lit up Lake Hartwell this holiday season with its annual Parade of Lights, a festive event that also serves as a vital fundraiser for local charities. This year’s parade, held on Dec. 5 and 6, featured boats adorned with holiday lights, drawing crowds to the shoreline, especially at Green Pond Landing, for a magical evening on the water.

Beyond the spectacle, the event had a strong charitable focus. The club collected toys for Toys for Tots and canned goods for the Good Neighbor Cupboard food pantry, two organizations that support families in need during the holidays. Volunteers from the sailing club helped organize and collect donations, underscoring the community spirit that defines the event.

The Parade of Lights has become a signature tradition for the Western Carolina Sailing Club, combining festive fun with meaningful outreach. Organizers say the event not only brings the community together but also makes a real difference for those facing food insecurity or hoping for a brighter holiday season.
