Bicentennial Drone Show Highlight of Celebrate Anderson

Neither threat of storms or gusty winds dampened the Labor Day Weekend spirits of the crowd that attended Celebrate Anderson on Sunday.

Though an official count has not been announced, thousands were on hand for the day of events that included hot air balloons – part of the Cancer Association of Anderson’s Hot Air Affair festivities – food, a kids activity area and music.

The move to balloon hill across from the Anderson Civic Center this year, due to renovations at the traditional amphitheater site, proved most advantageous for the annual fireworks show and something new this year – a drone show.

The 17-minute drone show was a fitting and fun tribute to Anderson County’s bicentennial, lighting up the sky with nods to the towns and villages of the county and icons that represented each.

The event, paid for by sponsors, including Michelin, Duke Energy, Tri-County Technical College and Arthrex., was free to the public.
