Anderson Watching as Local Man Competes in Bassmaster Classic

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

When this year’s Bassmaster Classic kicks off Friday, Anderson County will be watching a pair of local favorite anglers hit the river in Knoxville in hopes of bringing home the biggest catch: the $300,000 first-place prize.

Collin Smith of Honea Path earned his spot in December winning the playoff after his team (he and Brady Kimbrell) win in the Bassmaster Team Championship at Green Pond Landing.

In addition to Smith, Brandon Cobb of Greenwood, a Bassmaster Elite Series Professional, will compete in his fourth classic. Cobb wears the colors of Green Pond Landing and Visit Anderson, two of his sponsors.

The event, set for Friday-Sunday will be streamed live on Bassmaster.com, Tubi and FOX Sports digital platforms. Updates will also be featured at 10 p.m. nightly on FS1 with highlight.
