After 30 Years,Tucker’s Restaurant Set to Close Doors Jan . 17

An Anderson tradition will say goodbye Jan. 17, after more than three decades of serving the community with fine, local, food and an event space that has hosted some of the most important meetings in the county.
Tucker’s Restaurant has grown into a community fixture, and is best known for its blend of casual and upscale dining, it has become a familiar gathering place for residents, business diners, and visitors alike.
Owners Hamid and K.D. Mohsseni are retiring after more than 30 years as a community fixture which provided not only a blend of casual and upscale dining, but a familiar gathering place. Their signature chicken and salmon dishes along with the club sandwich featured in the Anderson Observer’s “Lunch Favorites” will be missed.
“We want to thank the Anderson community for their support for the past 30 years,” said Hamid Mohsseni, adding that while he and his wife are retiring from the restaurant business, they plan to stay active in the community.
AnMed Health will reportedly lease the property, and their public information office told the Observer they have not information on the move.
The Mohssenis have been prominent business and civic leaders in Anderson, South Carolina, Hamid Mohsseni is a member and former chairman of the Anderson County Economic Development Board, and has participated in international economic development missions for Anderson County including China and Ireland. He has served on numerous local boards, including the Anderson Chamber of Commerce, Anderson YMCA, United Way of Anderson County, the AnMed Hospital Foundation, and the local Salvation Army, reflecting his long term community engagement. He is also a graduate of Leadership Anderson and the Leadership South Carolina program, where he later served as board chair for two years and Elected to the Tri County Technical College Area Commission, where he was appointed in 2020 and subsequently became chair, extending his influence into regional education and workforce development as well as serving on the Tri County Technical College Foundation board.
K.D. Simpson-Mohsseni has also built a legacy in Anderson earned by her civic leadership and philanthropy. While frequently recognized alongside her husband, she maintains her own distinct portfolio of service on various local boards and educational institutions.
She holds influential positions in organizations focused on tourism, education, and economic development in Anderson County, including: board member of the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, the Anderson County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Anderson), an organization responsible for promoting tourism and managing hospitality tax funds to boost the local economy; and the Anderson University Board of Visitors, a group of community leaders who provide counsel to the university president and assist with strategic planning and resource development.
Through Tucker’s, the Mohsseni family has provided decades of stability to the local workforce and often uses the restaurants as a platform for community hospitality and fundraising. The couple has also provided substantial financial support for numerous county groups and organizations, including the Salvation Army, Anderson University and Tri-County Technical College.
