38th Annual Free Clinic’s Walk With the Docs Saturday

Observer Reports

The Anderson Free Clinic is gearing up for its 38th annual "Walk With The Docs" this Saturday, which will kick off in downtown Anderson at 9 a.m. to support local healthcare access.

All proceeds will directly fund the operating budgets for the Anderson Free Clinic, ensuring continued medical care for uninsured and underserved residents in the community.

This community tradition traces its roots back to 1989. The inaugural two-mile walk was led by Dr. Dan Fleming, then-President of the Anderson County Medical Society. That first year drew a crowd of more than 400 walkers and raised $16,000. Over the past 38 years, the event has grown into a cornerstone fundraising effort for the Free Clinic.

Community members are encouraged to get involved by registering as participants, forming teams, or signing on as financial sponsors. Official event T-shirts are currently available, and organizers recommend reserving them early.

For more information on sponsorships, registration, and the team competition, those interested can reach out to the Anderson Free Clinic directly here.
