2026 Upgrades Will Keep Green Pond a Lure to Anderson County

Greg Wilson/Anderson Observer

In 2025, Green Pond Landing continued to endure as a quiet engine of Anderson County’s ambitions—a boat ramp reborn as economic lodestar. Since its 2015 redevelopment, it has lured elite anglers and generated over $116 million for the Upstate from tournaments, a testament to persistent county vision.

Spring 2025 brimmed with triumphs: Major League Fishing’s Pro Circuit in March, won by a South Carolina local; Bassmaster Elite Series in April, claimed by Georgia’s Paul Marks; and the Collegiate Championship in May, followed by fall finales like the NPFL Championship and Bassmaster Team event.

“We had a really good year and another good year… we were scheduled pretty heavy in the spring,” recalls Neil Paul, Visit Anderson’s executive director.

Paul attributes the streak to relentless upgrades.

“We’re victims of our own success. All the credit goes to the county,” said Paul. “The leadership of Anderson County has been great to continue providing us with resources,” noting how phased developments retain repeat visitors who witness the site’s evolution., “We’re always excited to have the Bassmaster Team Championship back to Green Pond Landing, Lake Hartwell, and Anderson County,” said Paul. “The leadership of our county continues to provide us with the resources to host championship events.”  He said what has been true in years past, still rings true: “Everyone wants to come where the Classic was held… that is why we put all of our eggs in one basket with Green Pond Landing.”

These gatherings fill hotels and diners, their $116 million legacy shielding locals from taking the bounty for granted— (“a lot of interest nationwide, but locally, people are sort of gotten immune,” according to Paul.) Expansion looms in 2026 with new launches and parking, a brief hiatus yielding amplified capacity.

Paul discussed the past year at Green Pond, and details on what to expect in 2026 in this interview with The Anderson Observer.
