Letter to the Editor: Dr. Annie Andrews Best Choice for U.S. Senate
Akasha Wood
“Law and compassion can coexist. That’s what true leadership looks like”, declares
Dr. Annie Andrews, the best candidate for US Senate to replace the late Lindsey Graham. She’s a pediatrician with an impressive record serving families in her community, testament to her ideal of service and strong integrity, seeded in good, solid values. She’s well informed, well spoken, and committed to improving overall living conditions for all South Carolinians. Throughout her practice, Annie has worked zealously to help our children—our future citizens.
Years into pediatrics, she realized policy reform in D.C. was needed and wasn’t forthcoming. For the sake of her children, indeed all children, she decided to throw her hat in the race. A healthy social and economic environment nurtures and protects strong schools and excellent healthcare. But among the states, S.C. ranks low, 42nd in public education according to the 2026 World Population Review. This year S.C. earned an F from The Network for Public Education.
A breath of fresh air, Annie offers intelligence, competence and enthusiasm for helping South Carolina across the board, focussing on healthcare and education but also rising inflation and tariff-induced agricultural distress, AI regulation, local infrastructures and small businesses, gun regulation and the urgent restoration of sane medical policy. In the latter case, consider HHS Secretary Kennedy’s impact on the spread of the measles virus.
She will do her best to remedy the damages inflicted by this rogue administration and its illegal tariffs. She probably won’t be playing golf at Mar-a-Lago. She would not waste your tax money on illegal wars or fixing Qatar’s fancy, luxury plane, costing taxpayers a billion,,…so far. She would back careful environmental protections for our public lands and monuments, our precious resources and natural beauty. She would invest in clean energy and careful regulation covering all AI ventures.
Are we happy with our to date probably 30 costly AI data centers?! Were they thoughtfully researched and carefully considered? Billionaires quietly bought S.C. land, and somehow secured permits. These monstrosities spoil surrounding neighborhoods and plunder local resources, esp. water. Are there any regulations for AI forthcoming from any S.C. lawmakers in D.C.? Or is the current administration hostage to and corroborating with big tech’s unwarranted fortunes and unregulated expansion. Experts agree, AI desperately needs regulation.
Dr. Andrews stands against aggressive incursions into foreign countries. Our trust in the 2024 campaign promises to end forever, foreign wars, especially in the Middle East, have been undermined.
Checkout Dr. Andrew’s website. You’ll discover a strong, appealing candidate to represent
South Carolina in the U.S. Senate. A change I believe you would not regret, but find highly beneficial for most South Carolinians and indeed the whole country.
