Letter to Editor: Generosity Make Church Improvements, Progress Possible

Pastor Rebecca Mackey, Church or God of Prophecy, Anderson

The Church of God of Prophecy in the heart of Anderson is experiencing a revival of spirit and community support like never before. Under the guidance of Pastor Rebecca Mackey, this small congregation is undergoing a transformation aimed at becoming a beacon of change within its community.

Since November of last year, Pastor Mackey has been leading the charge to revitalize the church, infusing it with a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those around them.

One of the most visible signs of this renewal is the physical transformation of the church building itself, including a wheelchair-accessible ramp and two new sets of steps allowing accessibility for members with physical challenges.

Recently students and staff from the Technology Center at Lake Marion High School in Santee, volunteered their time and skills to install handrails they built at their school for the newly constructed porch and steps.

The generosity didn't stop there. The concrete for the porch and steps was generously donated by American Concrete in Anderson, further demonstrating the community's commitment to supporting the church's vision. Additionally, a local contractor, CCG Clemson Construction with the support of Morgan Glass LLC who provided the doors, was responsible for installing striking double glass doors, adding a modern touch to the entrance.

These contributions, both big and small, are instrumental in bringing Pastor Mackey's vision of a more community-minded church to life. The church is immensely grateful for the support it has received and wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to all the donors, including anonymous donors, who have made these transformations possible.

Looking ahead, Pastor Mackey and the congregation have ambitious plans to further expand their impact on the community and are currently seeking assistance to clear adjacent property with the goal of creating a community event venue.

The Church of God of Prophecy in Anderson, SC, is not just a place of worship; it is a testament to the power of community coming together to create positive change. Through the dedication and generosity of its members and supporters, this small church is proving that even the smallest of congregations can make a big difference.

Other members and friends that gave of their time are Allen Robinson, Jr. (Duke), Otis Edward Mackey, Jeffrey O'Neal Mackey, Allen Robinson, and Anita Hall who made inside flooring donations).
