Letter to Editor: Burgess Supports Alan Wilson in Governor’s Runoff

I support Alan Wilson and encourage all registered voters in South Carolina to support Alan during the Republican Party runoff on June 23. I had the tremendous opportunity to campaign with Alan in 2018 when I was running for office and he to become the state’s Attorney General. Alan proved to be a gentleman and a person extremely concerned about the people of South Carolina. My wife and daughter found him to be most sincere.

Wilson’s record speaks for itself from public safety, legal and constitutional defense, human trafficking and child protection, as well as military leadership. He led the charge for passage of Ashley Hall bill and Emma’s law regarding safety, he augmented the Human Trafficking Task Force. Alan took on the issue of illegal immigrant with gusto, he fought the overreach of the federal government. Wilson’s office led the charge to tackle human trafficking.

Alan’s military service to this state and nation is exemplary. He holds the rank of Colonel in the US Army, serving in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps.

With that said, Alan took the extraordinary step of naming State Sen. Mike Reichenbach as his running mate. A man imminently qualified to step in as governor of the state if the unimaginable occurred. This step is extraordinary, because more than ever in South Carolina, it is imperative that South Carolinians of European descent and African descent work together to make South Carolina the exemplar for other states, particularly in America’s South.

South Carolina Republicans would be wise to select an executive, a fighter, with the foresight to see and direct South Carolina in the direction of a brighter and more cohesive future.

Wilson is the right choice.
