In the era of true-crime podcasts, and such television series as  “Only Murders in the Building,” Joseph Kesserling’s play,  “Arsenic and Old Lace,” which first hit the stage in January of 1941, remains fresh, and the Mill Town Players find just the right groove, nearly flawless as they dance to the playwright’s words which are on the edge of the macabre. The winner of the 2023 Anderson Arts Center Art Slam now has an exhibit on display at the main branch of the Anderson County Library.

The exhibit for Kathy Moore, an artist and art educator at T.L. Hanna High School, kicked off Friday night on the second floor of the Anderson Main Library where her work will be on display through the first week of September.

“Hello Dolly” danced into the historic Pelzer Auditorium Friday night with an energetic cast breathing life into the adaptation musical which wowed Broadway in 1964.

The “Art of Play” exhibit features 12 artists from the Southern Exposure Cooperative in their exhibit "Art of Play,” with work that addresses the theme of play or was inspired or generated by play. Works include literal toys, games, theatrical pieces, interactive works, and symbolic pieces.

The Market Theatre will present “The Tempest,” a free performance of the Shakespeare classic in Carolina Wren Park at 8 p.m. June 15-19

The Mill Town Players will present “Last Round-Up of the Queens: The Souther-Fried High School Reunion Comedy.” The play is set to run through June 18. Tickets here.

The atrium gallery, we will feature "35 years through the lens in Anderson", a photography exhibit featuring the work of Ken Ruinard.

Without offering a playlist of songs - part of the fun is waiting to discover what song will come next - but the production covered territory that included the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Doors and Janis Joplin, all backed by a band that was more than up to the task.

The event will feature a live art competition among 14 artists. Each artist will be given a “mystery box” of supplies and must create a piece of art on-the-spot.

The new season will feature “The Fox on the Fairway,” Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” “A Christmas Carol,” “The Game’s Afoot,” “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory,” “Once Upon a Mattress,” and “Belles: More Busted Than Ever.”

A strong cast, excellent director, a stellar band, a fine set and good lighting make the Mill Town Players production of “Always…Patsy Cline” both engaging and entertaining.

With a cast of 45 and a live six-piece band, the show includes dancing to songs from not only the 1940s, but the music of the Beatles, Carol King, the Monkees and more.
