The United Way of Anderson Storybook Breakfast, featuring the book "The Dot,” kicked off a busy Saturday in Anderson County with the fundraiser event at the Farmers Market.

Breakfast, story time, cotton candy, face painting, and other activities were included, and the kids also received a copy of the book.

Proceeds from the event will go to the United Way's Camp iRock program, a summer reading camp for kids who need a little extra help reading on grade level.

“We want every child reading on grade level by the time they reach third grade,” said Carol Burdette, CEO of the United Way of Anderson County. Burdette said those who do not achieve this milestone are less likely to succeed going forward in school.
